A Hard Week

Just as I started my other blog asweetsavor.blogspot.com I came down with a miserable head cold. I'm feeling better now but still not quite up to par. Last night I slept for 12 hours which is very unusual for me, I'm usually up by 5 or 6. So because of that cold, I haven't gotten much done on my quilts or anything else for that matter. However I have pictures of a couple of pins that I've previously created. I'm sorry the pictures came out so glaring. Photoshop wasn't cooperating.
A sheep button given to me by my daughter inspired this pin.

This pin was inspired by the little quilting charm my daughter also gave me.

A New Project And A New Blog

When I get tired of seeing snow this time of year, I put the snowmen decorations away and look for something to brighten the atmosphere in our home. Last year I started collecting cardinal decor. Cardinals being the birds not the baseball team. LOL I saw this pattern on Pinterest and had to order it.
I've started on it and have progressed further than what this picture shows and I can't wait to get it finished.

And now for the big announcement!!!!! I've started another craft blog. It's aimed at those of faith returning from the nations back to the Hebrew roots of the Bible but all are welcome to visit and use my ideas for themselves. I include, and will continue to add to, many links to related websites and sources for crafting materials and will be sharing my own creations and giving ideas of how to incorporate their faith into their crafts. I will be posting twice a week, once on Monday and again on Thursday. Between my two blogs I'll be spending a lot of time in the studio crafting. My new blog is: asweetsavor.blogspot.com

More To Share

Yes I've been busy. On my last post I showed blocks for a quilt I had started working on again after starting them 5 years ago. I used the following book for the patterns for that quilt.

Now keep that quilt in mind as I continue. I found the directions for an interest three dimensional pinwheel block on this blog http://pumpkinpatchquilter.blogspot.com/2011/09/3d-pinwheel-block-tutorial.html
This was my first attempt at the pinwheel.

So...I started thinking this would be nice added to another block from the above quilt. So...along with five more pinwheels and the garden girl block I chose I have a new wall hanging.

I bet you're sitting on the edge of your seat now. (teehee!) So...drum roll please.

I embellished the pinwheels with buttons and the girl with buttons, lace and pearls. Now on to the next project. See you soon!

WIP and other things

On my post I shared some quilt blocks I had been working on. I've finished another block to show you.

There are 2 or 3 more blocks to complete and then the hard part. There are many blocks that have to be 'set in' in L shaped corners. Oh, the joy. What did I get myself into? Another challenge Ollie!

Last week I was busy sewing up a storm. Among other items that I'll share in another post, I made a tote from leftover fabric that I sewed a sewing machine cover from and I used more of my favorite sheep fabric to make a tote to carry my drop spindle in.

In closing I just have to make a comment about our winter weather. Yesterday at 5 PM one could see the green  grass  brown weeds in the back yard and hey, even the stones in the driveway. By 9 PM we had approximately 12 inches of snow and this morning it totaled nearly 2 feet. More on the way tonight and tomorrow. I think I'll spend the day sewing hibernating.

A Touch(?) Of Winter And A WIP

Needless to say you've all probably heard about the snowstorm across the country last week. Hubby had to snowblow the driveway out 3 times this week. And I was hoping for the same light weather this winter as we had last year. (Sigh...) Sorry but since I don't have a FaceBook page anymore I just had to do a little rant here. LOL

I do have some quilting to show you though. I started this quilt top about six years ago. It's about time I finished. I have to add more blocks to it but I thought I would show you what I've done so far. So making a promise to myself, this quilt top will be finished in time to start a new one. Another LOL

I think there are three more blocks to be completed before I assemble them and then there is a pieced border to finish it off.  To be continued.... After all I've acquired a quilted wall hanging pattern that has pieced cardinal blocks in it. Can't wait to start it! So many quilts so little time.

I Did It!

I finally succeeded in making a beautiful, tasty looking Challah. It also smells wonderful. Dinner will be especially sweet tonight! I'll have to work on the braiding though. LOL

I wish all my quilting sisters in Israel  Happy Hanukkah!
